NYC Traffic Speeds in Key Corridors

The data visualization to the right shows the change in average traffic speeds over time along key corridors in NYC.

Explore the data by zooming in/out, clicking on the corridors, and controlling the animation in the top right (in progress)

The NYC data updates about every 5 minutes, but sometimes the updates come a minute sooner or later, so each five minute interval is batched together for a consistent animation period for all roads (which is why the clock increments in 5's).

Some of the major intersections and corridors have multiple traffic speeds depending on lanes or direction, so zooming into the map will reveal even more detail. For example, the Lincoln Tunnel has three separate traffic speed readings.
